Concierge Athletic Training Services FAQ

What is an athletic trainer and what do they do?

An athletic trainer is a licensed healthcare professional who specializes in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions related to physical activity. They work with people of all ages and activity levels—not just athletes.

Athletic trainers are trained to:

  • Prevent injuries through education, stretching programs, proper technique, and pre-habilitation exercises designed to strengthen the body and reduce injury risk
  • Evaluate and diagnose injuries such as sprains, strains, and concussions
  • Provide immediate care in emergency situations
  • Develop and guide rehabilitation programs for recovery
  • Support safe return to activity after injury

You’ll often find athletic trainers working in schools, sports teams, clinics, hospitals, and even industrial or workplace settings. Their goal is to keep people active, safe, and performing at their best.

What is an athletic training room?

An athletic training room is a dedicated space where athletic trainers provide care for injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. It serves as a central location for keeping individuals healthy, safe, and ready for physical activity.

In an athletic training room, you may receive:

  • Injury evaluations and first aid care
  • Treatment for acute and chronic injuries
  • Rehabilitation and recovery programs
  • Pre-habilitation exercises to help prevent injuries
  • Taping, bracing, and other supportive care

These rooms are commonly found in schools, sports facilities, clinics, and workplaces. They are equipped with specialized tools and equipment to help athletic trainers deliver high-quality care and support overall wellness.

Do schools offer athletic training services?

No, not all schools offer athletic training services. Availability can vary based on factors such as school size, funding, and resources.

Many middle schools, high schools, and colleges do have athletic trainers on staff or available through partnerships with local healthcare providers. However, some schools may not have direct access to an athletic trainer and may rely on coaches or outside medical professionals for injury care.

If athletic training services are not available on-site, schools may still provide access through nearby clinics, hospitals, or community programs. It’s always a good idea to check with your school or district to learn what services are offered.
